The Orange Democratic Movement has formally requested a total freeze on all recent leadership changes within the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
The party’s legal team argues that the resolutions passed during the February 2nd council meeting are null and void because the meeting was convened in total disregard of the coalition’s founding deed.
At the heart of the dispute is Article 6 of the Azimio agreement, which outlines how the council and its officials are to be appointed.
ODM maintains that such significant changes—including the replacement of the Secretary General—must be a collective decision involving all constituent party leaders.
They claim their party leader was neither consulted nor invited, making the entire process an illegal "cabal" meeting.
This move by ODM is a desperate attempt to maintain its status as the "senior partner" in the opposition.
If the new leadership under Kalonzo Musyoka and Caroli Omondi is allowed to stand, ODM risks losing its grip on the coalition’s machinery and its strategic direction.
The Registrar now finds himself in the middle of a political firestorm, with the very survival of Kenya’s largest opposition coalition hanging in the balance.
