Despite having been a close supporter of the former Prime Minister in the past, he rejected Raila's union with then President Uhuru Kenyatta, declaring their closeness over.
Despite having even been a member of Raila's NASA coalition, he even began criticising Raila, terming him someone who cannot even keep friends and whose associates keep abandoning.
At some point, the former lawmaker even mocked Raila and his presidential bids, declaring that he would never become President no matter how much he tried, claiming that he was plagued with bad omens.
He further alleged that he had lost the support he once enjoyed in the Western Kenya region.
“Raila does not know how to keep friends; Ruto, who is giving him sleepless nights, was his ally. After the Hague, Raila abandoned him and said everyone should carry his own cross,” he said.
“He has now lost Western, and whatever he does will never lead this nation. Ukambani, Turkana, North Rift, and other regions are also out of his grasp, so where else will he get the votes?” he said then, according to People Daily.
He died while undergoing treatment at an Eldoret Hospital on Tuesday, after making public his intentions to run for the Likuyani MP seat in 2027.
Raila, on the other hand, died in Kerala, India, in October, after taking five unsuccessful stabs at the presidency, the final one being in 2022.
