During the interview, Gachagua was asked whether the candidature of Duncan Mbui under the Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party ticket, had a negative impact on Democratic Party (DP) candidate Newton Kariuki alias Karish, bid for the Mbeere North constituency parliamentary seat.
While giving his response, Gachagua affirmed that the push by Karish to clinch victory in Mbeere North was negatively impacted by Duncan Mbui move to join the race, leading to Karish unexpected loss against his fierce rival Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende, who cliched narrow win under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.
Gachagua moved on to allege that the move by CCK to front Duncan Mbui for the race was secretly coordinated by former Cabinet Secretary (CS) for public service, Moses Kuria, and powerful forces in government, so as to fracture votes and spoil for Karish, who had been ranked by the opinion polls far ahead of his opponents.
In a rather controversial fashion, Gachagua further alleged that Moses Kuria was working as a mole for the government, and that he will have many similar assignments in the 2027 election.
In a quick rejoinder, Moses Kuria who was seemingly irked by Gachagua's claim affirmed that he was not involved in stealing Karish votes, urging Gachagua to make up his mind on what led to Karish untimely loss.
Before concluding, Moses Kuria affirmed that Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party, is set to enjoin Newton Karish in challenging Muthende's victory but as an interested party, seeking to get more answers from Gachagua, on his allegation that CCK spoiled for Karish.
"Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) will enjoin in the Newton Karish petition (challenging Muthende's victory) as an interested party, so you can answer me (on the allegations) in court.
