List Of Prominent Leaders Who Obado Found In The Prison Where He Was Taken

Okoth Obado, the former governor of Migori County, has been taken to Block G at Industrial Area Prison following his conviction in the murder case of university student Sharon Otieno.

After being admitted to the prison, Obado and the other convicted prisoners went through the facility’s standard intake process.

They underwent medical checks, completed registration procedures and had their personal belongings recorded before receiving prison uniforms and bedding. They were subsequently assigned places to sleep.

Block G is regarded as a high-security section and has housed several inmates involved in serious criminal and corruption cases.

Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Sirisia MP John Waluke previously served time in the section following their convictions in separate corruption cases.

The transfer also marks Obado’s return to a facility he previously occupied after his arrest in 2018 over the death of Sharon Otieno. He spent more than a month in the prison before securing bail while the case was still being heard.

Former Nairobi Central Police Station commander Samson Talaam is also reportedly being held in the same section. Talaam is facing charges connected to the death of teacher Albert Ojwang.

Authorities have clarified that prisoners are assigned to specific sections according to security needs and prison management arrangements. They say political influence or an inmate’s former public position does not determine where they are housed.
