National politics is rapidly shifting and his Exellency President William Ruto isn't missing a beat.
Minutes ago, the President has brought the busy Pipeline area in Embakasi to a standstill, delivering a fiery address that has left the crowd both energized and amused.
Fresh from a service at AIC Pipeline, the President has taken to the sunroof of his vehicle to address a massive gathering.
But it address has not been a thank you visit, it has been a master class in political shade. The target? Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent attempts to restructure the Azimio coalition.
Ruto has not held back when mocking the new-look Azimio. With his signature wit, he has questioned the logic of the coalition trying to reinvent itself while its powerhouse, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is effectively collaborating with the government.
"Ati wanaunda Azimio… ile nilinyoroosha asubuhi," Ruto has quipped, drawing massive roars from the crowd.
He has went on to deliver the line that is now trending across social media that Azimio coalition without ODM is simply fainting/blacking out.
The residents of Embakasi seems to have agreed, cheering as the President points out the irony of the current political alignment.
The President’s comments comes on the heels of Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to oust ODM MP Junet Mohamed as the Azimio Secretary General.
This housecleaning is seen as a direct response to the deepening broad-based government partnership between Ruto and Raila Odinga’s ODM party.
Flanked by leaders like Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Senator Karen Nyamu, Ruto’s message is clear that the old opposition structures are crumbling.
By bringing ODM figures into the fold, the President feels he has effectively neutralized the very coalition that once challenged him, leaving the remaining Azimio wing looking a bit lost in the woods.
