Following the meeting, elder and former Member of Parliament Dr Noah Wekesa has shared some of the key details the elders discussed and the conclusions arrived at during the meeting.
As revealed by Dr Wekesa, the elders took immediate action and decided to form a comprehensive working group to begin extensive discussions amongst themselves and other communities on how to approach the upcoming 2027 polls.
Dr Wekesa decried that though the community is second in the country according to population numbers, it has always fallen victim to opportunists who front the greedy personal demands instead of representing the greater western region.
Dr Wekesa argued that the decision to form the working group is to avoid the perennial political cannibalism that the community has experienced over the years.
"We are number two in population but we have never been taken seriously. We want to make sure we remain united. This is just one of the many meetings that we will be holding," said Dr Wekesa.
"The formation of the working group is to make sure that we do not become victims of a few political brokers who benefit as individuals," Dr Wekesa argued.
