Speaking during a public engagement, Kalonzo argued that the government’s promises are out of touch with the country’s current realities.
He said many sectors of the economy are struggling, with rising costs of living and unemployment undermining the administration’s development agenda.
“Turning Kenya into ‘Singapore’ is not achievable under the current circumstances. Too many things are going wrong,” Kalonzo said, questioning the government’s economic strategy and its ability to deliver meaningful reforms.
The former vice president also took aim at proposals for a national referendum, claiming it is a scheme designed to extend the ruling coalition’s grip on power rather than address the needs of ordinary Kenyans.
"Referendum is a plot to add time in power,” he alleged, warning that such initiatives could distract from urgent socio-economic challenges facing the country.
Kalonzo called on the government to focus on lowering the cost of living, strengthening institutions, and promoting inclusive governance instead of what he termed as “political maneuvers.”
His remarks add to growing opposition criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration as debates over economic policy and constitutional changes continue to intensify.
