Junet Reveals the Major Stumbling Block Keeping ODM, UDA from Striking a Coalition Deal

Speaking to Nation Africa in an exclusive interview, top ODM diehard and Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed uncovered one of the reasons keeping the ODM party from entering into a 2027 coalition deal with Ruto's UDA party as early as now.

According to Mohamed, a full implementation of the 10-point agenda and other NADCO report recommendations would naturally lead to the formation of a coalition with the UDA party.

However, there's a major stumbling block that is currently blocking the implementation of the 10-point agreement and subsequently hindering the formation of the UDA, ODM coalition.

The key stumbling block is a court order that halted the Protests Victims Compensation panel from executing its mandate.

Compensation of protests victims was part of the ODM's ten-point agreement with Ruto's administration. 

When the compensation panel was formed, activists rushed to court and secured orders that stopped the panel from holding any sittings.

According to Mohamed, the order is blocking the implementation of the ten-point agreement and subsequently hindering the formation of the ODM, UDA coalition deal. The agreement must be fully honoured for the coalition to be formed.

However, the committee overseeing the implementation of the ten-point agenda has expressed confidence stating that over 50% of the agreement has been honoured by government.

The committee is hopeful that by March next year, the government will have fully implemented the ten-point agreement and thereby pave the way for the UDA, ODM coalition formation.
